Science Channel

In 2007, T&F was selected to head the re-branding of the Science Channel, one of the numerous networks under the Discovery Communications umbrella. The new concept is rooted in a grid system, which evokes the dependable and methodical nature we associate with the discipline of science. This grid becomes a housing and alignment device for the typography, video, and navigational elements in the advertisements. We created two full network packages: one for the US (in both HD and SD) and one in PAL SD for international use (Discovery Science).

One of our favorite uses of this grid appears in what we like to call “Brain Chains”. The goal of these 3D animations was to build a system where copy contained in the orange boxes could be interchanged at a moments notice. “Brain Chains” will serve as an ongoing campaign that delivers interesting scientific factoids in an exciting way.
